SEMIR-Series of Brainwashing
This is a Semir creativity project for the “2019 One Show China Youth Award”, expressing the “Youth” language with Chinese culture gene. In the style of the Calendar in Republic of China and fusing the contemporary youth’s slogans taught by the old generation, this set of illustrations is humorous and satirical. The combination of the two has a new spark. The selection of the style of the Calendar in Republic of China also has its particularity since period of the Republic of China is a time when new and old thoughts are blended. At that time, the youth with new thoughts were also the main force of the ideological revolution, which played an important role in promoting China’s social development. Nowadays, under the imperceptible brainwashing of traditional notions, the younger generations are in greater need of the awareness of independent thinking, and should take the essence and discard the dross when inheriting Chinese culture. Youths are expected to have the courage to criticize and challenge the traditional authority, and actively reexamine the value of the secular life in the traditional notions, demonstrating the personality and attitude of their own in the new era.
